First, the artwork: It's all-female subjects in fantasy settings, leaning more towards urban fantasy than epic fantasy, and there's a hint of steampunk thrown in for December. It's well-done without being over-the-top risque.The calendar: It's a good format, full page Sunday to Saturday structure, with an easy-to-read font for the numbers. My only complaint is the low-constrast color choices in the calendar portion. Instead of black on white, it's black on a greyish hue that matches the art for the month. It does make for a nicer overall look, but for the calendar portion, across-the-room legibility is king for me.

One of the best looking "girlie" calendars out there and is an excellent mix of glamour and darkness. I love this guy's work and look forward to the new year specifically to buy WDF.
This calender has riveting art design and is a must for any fans of strong and sensual women. i will be looking for this artist on my next calender purchase.
nice calendar but is mostly black.. and not easy to see.
The girls seen in the calendar' should be a little bit younger and more realistic!
I love receiving these calendars every year as gifts. This time I purchased this calendar to make sure that I had one, just in case my usual gift-giver forgot. If you like looking at beautiful badass women on your wall every month, be sure to get this series.
The art is amazing in this calender I admit, but none look nearly as great as the one on the cover so that was a bit of a let down. Some of the ladies look just plain weird. Maybe that was the idea. Despite that, it's interesting and different and I'm glad to own it.
I fear I am the worst person to review this work, a former art student. Yes, I rendered a lot of female figures. There are some really fine illustrations here. However there are some that are just shy of interesting. Mr Mauro's effort makes me long for the days when there was a Frazetta calendar every year, and Boris Vallejo's work hadn't gotten boring yet.
My son loves fantasy art. For years I have given calendars to my whole family every year for Christmas. Before now I bought them at Books A Million. Last year and this year I noticed the calendars they normally keep where not there. I expressed my displeasure to the clerk, like it would do any good. I left the store and came home and looked online at . Lo and behold I found what I was looking for and more. When Darkness Falls was offered with Royo and Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell as a set. I was excited and ordered it. My son was so excited when he opened them. Thank you . Not only did I find what I wanted, I didn't have to leave home to get them. Delivery was much faster than I expected for this time of year. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
